1931 Last Tram from Standish to Wigan	1939	1942 Madame Widor and the Nationalisation of the Standish Coal Seams

On April 22nd 1939, the Wigan Observer wrote:

“A silver coin minted 7 years before the Spanish Armada has been found in Standish. A resident was digging in his garden when he came across the coin. It is dated 1581 and is in a good state of preservation.”
