Some research has found the wording of a loyal and congratulatory address which was forwarded to the Home Secretary for presentation to the Queen.

To the Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty.

May it please your Majesty:

We, your Majesty’s loyal and dutiful subjects, the Chairman and Members of the Local Board for the District of Standish-with-Langtree, in the County Palatine of Lancaster, humbly approach your Majesty with the declaration of our ardent attachment to your Majesty’s person and Throne, and with our heartfelt congratulations upon the auspicious occasion of your Majesty’s Royal Jubilee.

Your Majesty’s reign extends over a period that will ever be memorable, not only for its duration, but also for the able and effective manner in which arts and sciences were encouraged and promoted by His Royal Highness the late Prince Consort, and for the unprecedented manner in which the boundaries of the empire have been extended and the best interest of the people promoted and secured.

In this illustrious chapter of our national history, we recognize the fostering hand of your Majesty, and we gratefully acknowledge the blessings which have resulted to these realms from the pure and glorious example manifested upon the Throne.

We sincerely pray that the evening of your Majesty’s reign may be unclouded and full of happiness, and that your Majesty may long be spared to unite with your faithful subjects in looking back with joy upon the Jubilee now being commemorated in every part of this vast and flourishing empire over which your Majesty’s sceptre so beneficially extends.

Given under the Common Seal of the Local Board for the District of Standish-with-Langtree, the 21st day of June, in the year of our Lord 1887.

The address, which had been beautifully illuminated, was in the form of a scroll, with flourishing heading and it was resolved that the seal of the Board (Council) should be fixed to the address.
