About
St. Marie's Bowling Club was formed in 1973 by a group of men who got together to form a gents bowling team to bowl in the CMS Wigan League. Originally bowling at the Boar's Head, they moved to their current green by St. Marie's Church in 1988.
Since the opening of the green, in addition to the existing mens and ladies teams, the following teams have been formed:
- Ladies B & C teams
- Mens Chorley Church's
- Mens pensioner
- Monday night mixed team
- Thursday afternoon mixed pensioners
The club has a membership of 103 persons. The membership annual fee is £13 for pensioners and £14 for others. The club holds a round robin competition every Tuesday commencing at 12:45pm, you don't have to be a member to enter - entry fee £1 - Prizes are given to group winners. New members are welcome to join the club to either social bowl or become a team player.
