About
A Junior Choir is the mainstay of any good Church Choir. The sound produced by young voices is unique and cannot truly be matched by an adult. A well trained treble voice (be it boy or girl) is a thrilling sound and very much an English phenomenon.
The Junior Choir at St Wilfrid's was formed in September 2006 and meets on Thursday evenings from 6.30pm to 7.30pm in the choir vestry, with attendance on Sunday mornings at 9:30am. New members are always welcome.
- Singing
- Social activities
- Free training and singing tuition
- Small payment for singing at Weddings
- Take part in concerts and other events
Prospective new choristers should be in Year 3 or above and willing to attend regularly and punctually. In return, we offer a good musical training, opportunities to make friends and have fun as well as learning musical skills and being treated like a professional!
The junior choir will have an active programme of social events, and the junior choristers receive individual training to a high standard in both singing and theory of music; regrettably this kind of training is rarely available in schools, apart from the specialist Cathedral Choir schools. The training programme uses as a basis, the Royal School of Church Music "Voice For Life" scheme.
