On 17th and 18th March 1921, 3000 acres of freehold from the Standish Estate was offered for sale by public auction. This included many accommodation farms and excellent agricultural holdings(a large area with vacant possession), several fine residences(incl. Strickland House, Prospect House and Standish Hall), good dwelling houses and building plots and woodlands.
This occurred at the Empress Hall, Wigan, at 1:00pm each day.
On 21st April 1921, parts of the Standish Estate, including freehold dwelling houses, shops, businesses, cottages, building sites and accommodation lands, were disposed of by public auction.
This took place at the Court House, Urban District Council Offices, High Street, Standish, at 11:00am.
