Copyrights are important to us, even on a wiki with as diverse content as ours. With input from a number of sources, and a wide range of types of information, it is difficult to specify exactly how our copyright works. In essence:

• if you can show that we have erroneously used your copyrighted material, please contact us and we will remove it.
• if you wish to use anything from our website (text or graphics), please ask first!

Copyright

The Standish Wiki administrator is in the process of choosing the correct license for this wiki. Initially it appears that the Attribution-Non-Commercial-Share Alike 2.0 UK: England & Wales license will be selected. Under this license...

You are free:

• to copy, distribute, display, and perform the work
• to make derivative works

Under the following conditions:

• Attribution: you must give the original author credit.
• Non-Commercial: you may not use this work for commercial purposes.

Local Businesses and Organisations

The Standish Community and Standish Commerce sections of out website include details about organisations which exist within Standish (or the surrounding area). These may include logos, pictures and descriptions which have been supplied to us by a representative of these organisations. These details, displayed with explicit permission of the organisation or individual concerned, remain the copyright of those organisations or individuals.

Historical texts

Many of the historical texts within this wiki have been extracted from a number of sources. These range from the 1923 "History of Standish" by the Rev. Thomas Cruddas Porteus to the numerous books and pamphlets produced by the Published by the Standish Local History Group in 1972. These books are now out of print, many of the authors are deceased, and their publishers are no longer publishing or are unknown. These books were created to inform interested parties about the history of our township, and are now either privately held or only available via the Library.

These aims, to promote and inform with regard to our township, are duplicated by this wiki. The website is not run for profit, and has no income, and therefore it is considered that the use of these texts (extensively in some cases) can be considered "fair use" on this website. The use of these texts is considered to enhance the availability of knowledge about the history of our township, and promotes us to a wide audience worldwide.

All texts taken from other published sources should be correctly cited.

If anyone can show that they have good reason to demand that these texts should be removed from our website, we will be happy to oblige.

Copying

We would request that you contact us if you require any text, images, graphics, logos, descriptions or any other part of these Standish sites.
