Vandalism and Plagiarism

Vandalism
The Standish Wiki, as a wiki in a similar style to Wikipedia, allows collaboration within a community to build and improve the quality and quantity of information within the Standish Wiki site.
Wikis are generally open to all, allowing both registered and anonymous users to add, delete, modify or amend content. The Standish Wiki has restricted this by only allowing user registration by the Administrator, in an effort to control access and misuse.
On a wiki using an application such as MediaWiki, it is easier to remove vandalism than it is to create it. Using the Recent Changes page, any and all contributions can be tracked. Using the edit page facility will allow malicious modifications to be reversed, simply and easily.
Registered users may have joined in order to allow them access to a specific page or pages (such as a business owner allowed access to their own page), but our wiki has no access management facility to limit access (except to locked or admin only pages). Therefore registered users are free to edit the majority of the site.
However, we allow registered members edit access to our wiki on trust, asking that the changes they make will be for the good. We hope that the community as a whole will monitor the site, and inform administrators of any vandalism and abuse, which can then be reversed. Deliberate vandalism will lead to the de-registration of whoever abused the site. In this way we hope to be able to control edits to the wiki.
Where it is thought that edits may be seen as vandalism, or may be considered contentious, it is suggested that they be discussed with an administrator, or with the community via either the discussion page or the Standish Talk messageboard.
To sum up this policy: please do not vandalise our wiki - if you do, we will remove your right to edit.
